SCALPEL AND MACK have produced, directed and written six feature films in the last ten years.
Our latest film, “Hurst - The First and Only” produced and directed by Ron Scalpello was released on Sky on 13th November 2022
“The Corrupted”, starring Timothy Spall, Sam Claflin and Hugh Bonneville was released in cinemas by EFD across the UK and Ireland on May 10th 2019.
“My Name Is Lenny” was released in 2018, starring Josh Helman, (X-Man Apocalypse, Mad Max:Fury Road), the BAFTA award winning Chanel Cresswell, Sir John Hurt, Nick Moran and the UFC middle-weight champion Michael Bisping. Released in the UK by Lionsgate and launching at the East London Film Festival with Embankment representing the film internationally.
2016 saw eONE release the sport feature-doc, “Bobby”, that charted the life and times of World Cup winning hero Bobby Moore that was “A must see” for The Evening Standard and The Times gave it a rave four star review.
“Pressure”, starring Danny Huston and Matthew Goode had it’s UK Premier at the Glasgow Film Festival in the “Best Of British” strand then moved on to the Dublin Film Festival, before receiving a UK wide release with 20th Century Fox and Pinewood Pictures in August 2015.
Ron's debut feature film “Offender”, starring Joe Cole (Peaky Blinders), and Kimberly Nixon (Fresh Meat) was released summer 2012 by Revolver and received strong reviews, “social realism meets Tony Scott” – Empire. It went on to break into the British Top 10 with eye-catching performances from Jo Cole (Skins, Peaky Blinders) and Kimberley Nixon (Fresh Meat) and ex young offenders who had never acted before. Ron visited a young offender’s institute and interviewed many inmates about the project before developing the script further with writer/producer Paul van Carter. The film received a 4/5 rating from Heat Magazine stating "this bloody borstal drama makes quiet political points alongside a powerful revenge storyline" and a 4/5 rating from Sky Movies calling it an "admirably crafted, a compelling drama" and likening it to French prison film A Prophet and Alan Clarke's 1979 film Scum.
